Wow, Livingston Parish. You really showed up for us!
This past weekend, Atlas Electronics Recycling participated in the Free Dump Day hosted by the Livingston Parish Government as part of Keep Louisiana Beautiful's "Love the Boot" week. We knew it would be a busy day, but we were completely blown away by the turnout. Aside from walking away with some sunburns, we survived the chaos and had an incredible time serving the community!
The Incredible Results
Let's talk about the numbers. We had 490 vehicles come through the event line. Thanks to all of you, we collected an amazing 9,200 pounds of electronics.
That is over four and a half tons of e-waste diverted from our local landfills. Instead of potentially polluting the ground, those materials will be recycled responsibly right here in Livingston Parish. It even took two completely full trips in a 26-foot box truck just to move the haul!
Along with electronics, residents were also able to safely drop off household furniture, tires, scrap metal, and appliances to keep our parish clean.

It Takes a Village
An event this massive does not happen without a huge amount of help. We have several people and organizations to thank for making the day run smoothly.
The Amazing Volunteers: We literally could not have done this without you. Thank you to our two volunteers from Keep Livingston Beautiful, the two volunteers from Livingston Parish's Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), and the dedicated public works employee who jumped in. Thank you for helping us stage the area, grabbing items from vehicles in the hot sun, and keeping the chaos completely organized.
Livingston Parish Public Works Department: A massive shoutout to this entire crew. They helped set up the event and directed the heavy traffic all day. Most importantly, they really saved us at the very end. They jumped right in to help load the massive pile of electronics back into our truck. If it were not for their quick and hard work, we would have been stuck there all day.
Community Partners and Sponsors: We are incredibly grateful to Bojangles in Albany and the Pizza Hut in the Town of Livingston for generously feeding the hardworking volunteers. A big thank you also goes to the corporate sponsors, Waste Management and Weyerhaeuser, for their support of the event. Finally, we want to recognize the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office for handling the free tire disposal program, as well as Henderson Auction for their partnership.
Looking Ahead
Being able to divert over 9,000 pounds of electronics from the landfill is a huge win. We cannot thank the residents who showed up enough. Your effort is exactly what keeps Livingston Parish and Louisiana beautiful!
Because of this massive success, Atlas Electronics Recycling is currently at full capacity. We will be taking a few weeks off from scheduling new residential and commercial pickups, so our team can properly process this giant load.
